PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- More than 400 customers in Providence remain without power due to a faulty underground cable, said David Graves, a spokesman for National Grid.
The power failure, reported about 10 Wednesday morning, at one point affected nearly 800 customers in the downtown area, including Smith Street, the State House, the Convention Center, and the Department of Administration.
Workers are trying to pinpoint the problem and switch customers to other lines, Graves said. The estimated time of restoration is 1:45 p.m.
