PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Cakes bought before Wednesday from Emely Party Store and Bakery in Central Falls and Providence should be thrown away, the Rhode Island Department of Health advises.

Illnesses after a birthday party led health investigators to check out the bakery's two locations, at 854 Dexter St. in Central Falls and 568 Broad St. in Providence.

They found frosting made with raw egg whites, bare hand contact with frosting ingredients and raw egg whites stored in containers not approved for reuse.

Emely Bakery's owner has made all of the changes recommended by health officials, the Friday news release said.
