WARWICK, R.I. -- Video surveillance of a vodka-stealing suspect has lead to the arrest of a Warwick man.
The video, which aired publicly Monday, lead to the arrest of Tawan Burgess, 32, after someone identified him. The video shows a man, his face in plain view, taking Ciroc vodka off a shelf and stuffing it into his baggy pants. Warwick police said Burgess is a suspect in a series of liquor store larcenies caught on surveillance cameras.
From July 12-16, several area liquor stores were hit by someone who took the vodkas. Burgess was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of shoplifting from Haxton's Liquor Store at 1222 Bald Hill Road and Haxton's West Bay Liquors at 2430 West Shore Road. Burgess was turned over to West Warwick Police Detectives who are investigating shoplifting from a liquor store there.
