PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- No additional mosquito pools from samples taken in Warren on Oct. 9 have tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis or West Nile Virus, the state Department of Environmental Management said.
One of the 50 samples had been previously confirmed positive for Highlands J Virus, a bird disease that doesn't affect humans.
Due to the low numbers of mosquitoes collected, no additional mosquito samples have been taken since Oct. 9.
Six pools of mosquitoes tested positive this year in Rhode Island for EEE and five pools for West Nile Virus.
