PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Roger Williams Medical Center has sued a surgeon, who once had medical staff privileges at the Providence hospital, to recoup money it asserts was advanced to him after his move here from Massachusetts.
In a lawsuit filed July 25 in U.S. District Court, in Providence, the hospital asserts Dr. Joseph E. Noonan, an orthopedic surgeon, owes it approximately $156,000.
Roger Williams recruited Noonan from Fall River, Mass., in April 2010 with the proviso the surgeon conduct business full time in Rhode Island.
Noonan moved his medical practice to Waterford, Conn., in December 2012. The hospital in February 2013 demanded Noonan pay back advances made to him prior to his leaving for Connecticut.
