PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- While Pawtucket police have identified the man murdered in his home early Sunday morning, they are still searching for two suspects seen fleeing after the gunfire.
Neighbors called police at 1:45 a.m. Sunday after hearing gunshots at 112 Dawson St. Police found 41-year-old Jeffrey Lebrun dead in his living room, shot at least twice, said Maj. Arthur Martins.
Lebrun had been targeted by the assailants, Martins said. He declined to answer questions about why.
Lebrun lived in the house with his wife and 15-year-old stepdaughter. Martins said that Lebrun's wife wasn't home during the attack; he declined to comment on where the teenage girl was.
Lebrun was the victim of a home invasion on May 19, when two men got into the house just before 2 a.m. and attacked him in the living room. One man grabbed Lebrun's neck and another held a knife, but Lebrun's screams for help drew his wife downstairs -- and the intruders fled.
The police said at the time that there was no detailed description of the suspects, and no apparent motive.
Martins said police couldn't say whether there was a link between the two attacks, just 2 1/2 months apart. "We are looking into it," Martins said.
Police ask anyone with information about the crime to call (401) 727-9100, Detective Ray Doran ext. 742 or Detective Richard Laforest ext. 761.
