PROVIDENCE -- Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis said Monday that he is planning to run for lieutenant governor next year and hopes, if we wins, to expand the office's responsibilities in ways that help small businesses and allow it to work more closely with the governor's office.
Mollis, 52, serving his second four-year term as secretary of state, is term limited and cannot seek a third.
He said that as he thought about his future career options, he concluded he would do best at what he loves -- public service.
He declined to offer specifics on his plans to help small businesses, but said he will reveal details on that, and other plans he has for the lieutenant governor's office, this fall, when he plans to formally announce his candidacy.
