Cicilline, faces sentencing in federal court in Boston on Sept. 11 after he pleaded guilty to charges that he conspired to shake down drug-dealer clients for $150,000 and manipulate the criminal justice system.

On Aug. 4, 1988
25 years ago today:
George A. "Buster" Rivera, 26, a former South Kingstown commercial fisherman, dies in Dunedin, Fla. after being struck by lightning as he was pulling his boat out of the water.
