RICHMOND, R.I. -- A homeless woman was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of desecrating a place of public assemblage after she was caught on a security camera pouring a liquid that smelled like urine onto the floor near the entry to the Richmond Senior Center stairs.
Mary Russo, 48, was also charged with disorderly conduct and malicious damage moments after she walked into the front foyer area that is shared by the Richmond Police Department and the community center
After pouring the substance, she ran away, a news release from the Richmond police said. They caught up with her near the CVS, which is also on Main Street. She was arraigned at District Court, South Kingstown, and ordered held without bail pending an Aug. 14 bail status conference and an Aug. 21 probation violation hearing.
The substance, considered a bio-hazardous material, required professional cleaning services.
