PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Superior Court judge Friday rejected a challenge of the same-sex marriage law that took effect in Rhode Island on August 1, saying the plaintiff had fallen "woefully short" of the criteria needed to obtain a preliminary injunction.
Ronald L'Heureux, a co-founder of the Faith Alliance to Preserve the Sanctity of Marriage as Defined by God, argues in his complaint that the same-sex marriage law conflicts with religious protections in the state Constitution and condones behavior that is contrary to what the framers of the document intended when they crafted those protections.
L'Heureux said he may file a motion for reconsideration.
