JOHNSTON - A 20 year-old Providence man arrested in Sunday's double homicide and the abduction of a two year-old boy will be charged and arraigned today, police said this morning.

Daniel Rodriguez was arrested in Providence Sunday. Johnston police said that he knew the homicide victims. They would not immediately say Monday morning what charges would be brought against him.

Meanwhile, an assistant Bristol County district attorney said Monday morning that his office will move to dismiss the fugitive from justice warrant against a second man arrested here Sunday in connection with the double homicide and the abduction.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Kidd said that Rhode Island authorities no longer consider Malcolm W. Crowell, 22, a suspect in the slayings or the abduction.

Johnston police plan a press conference at 11 a.m. to discuss the investigation.

The two women were found dead in their sprawling house at 3 Oaktree Drive after neighbors called police about 5 a.m. Sunday The boy, Isaiah Perez, the son of one of the homicide victims, was one of three children police said were in the house. He was the subject of a nationwide Amber Alert Sunday and was found about 9 p.m. Sunday wandering unattended at the Chad Brown housing complex in Providence.

Police Sunday did not identify the victims of the homicide or the motive.

Johnston police ruled Crowell out as a suspect late Sunday night after the recovery of the missing boy, said Johnston police Chief Richard S. Tamburini.

The decision was based on statements made by another man arrested Monday by Providence police, Tamburini said.
