MADISON, Wis. (AP) - CVS Pharmacy Inc. has paid $57,000 to settle alleged price scanner inaccuracies in stores throughout Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection announced the settlement Wednesday.
The department conducted a statewide inspection of 28 CVS stores over two days in January 2013. Inspectors found 37 overcharge violations. The overcharge rate for all stores tested averaged 2.64 percent.
On their return visit, inspectors found 12 instances where two stores failed to correct the price overcharges found on the first day.
Inspectors also found 15 instances over the two days where CVS stores did not post required signs advising customers they're entitled to a refund when they're not charged the lowest advertised price.
As part of the agreement, Rhode Island-based CVS did not admit to violating any Wisconsin laws.
