PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- U.S. Rep. James Langevin issued the following statement Wednesday on Governor Chafee's decision not to seek re-election.
"I have had the privilege of working with Governor Chafee for many years, going back to 1985 when he and I were elected to the Rhode Island Constitutional Convention together. It has been a pleasure to work with him over these many years in the various offices he has held, including Mayor of Warwick, United States Senator and Governor.
"Linc Chafee is someone of great character and integrity, and has always been in public office for the right reasons. He has a strong commitment to public service and should be proud of everything he has accomplished. I personally appreciate all he has done for the people of Rhode Island and I look forward to continuing to work with him for the remainder of his time in office. I wish him and his family nothing but the best."
