EXETER, R.I. -- The state police are investigating the discovery of human remains in a heavily wooded area north of Ten Rod Road by a man who was scouting the area for deer hunting Friday evening.
Although there are no outward signs of foul play, the state police are investigating the discovery as if it were a homicide to preserve any potential evidence, police said in a news release.
Police have not identified the body.
Police say that on May, 3, 2013, they learned that Mamdou N. Fal-Camara, 42, of Brockton, Mass., left Phoenix House at 251 Main St. in Exeter and had not been heard from. An investigation included a search of the wooded area around Phoenix House. Depending on the route traveled, Phoenix House is two to three miles from where the remains were discovered.
Police say there is no conclusive evidence at this point that links the human remains and Fal-Camara's disappearance.
