PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- David Cepeda, a city Department of Public Works employee, has been charged with hit and run in a DPW truck and driving with a suspended license after he allegedly rear-ended a moving car.

The police said the accident happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Ernest Street and Allens Avenue.

Cepeda, 35, of 73 Church Ave., Warwick, was charged with the crimes of leaving the scene of an accident and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license, as well as four noncriminal motor vehicle offenses, including refusal of a chemical breath test.

The police said the two occupants of the car did not report being hurt although their car was damaged so badly that it had to be towed away.
