PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island's attorney general is warning about a possible scam involving "car wrap" advertising.
Peter Kilmartin says his office has gotten several calls from residents about the opportunity to make $300 to $400 a week by having their cars wrapped with a company advertisement.
Kilmartin says individuals are sent a check as payment and told to keep the first week's pay, then wire the remaining funds so the company can customize the car's wrap. But he says the check is fraudulent and victims end up sending money from their own accounts.
Kilmartin says there are legitimate companies that do car wrapping but warns that other offers could be a scam. He says if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
