BARRINGTON , R.I. -- Dangerously high tides have forced the Barrington police to prevent all traffic from passing over the Warren Bridge.
At 7 p.m, a half-dozen police officers with a Barrington police Hum-Vee placed saw-horses across Route 114 and diverted traffic to Sowams Road.
Water on the Warren side of the bridge was about 3 feet high and rising. Meanwhile, the rushing waters of the Palmer River have touched the wooden bridge that supports the East Bay Bike Path.
At around 8 p.m., Route 114 was also shut down in parts of Barrington.
