PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Police in Rhode Island are stepping up their enforcement of the state's seat belt laws.
State Police Superintendent Col. Steven O'Donnell says police departments throughout the state will be participating in a "Click it or Ticket" campaign to encourage motorists to buckle up. They'll also be stepping up enforcement of child restraint laws.
The campaign begins Monday and runs through Sept. 29.
State law allows police to pull over and ticket motorists who aren't buckled up.
