NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (AP) -- A grand jury has indicted a Rhode Island man on charges of murder and mutilation of a corpse for allegedly killing his mother and then disposing of her dismembered remains in a trash bin.

Forty-six-year-old Robert Taylor of Narragansett was indicted Friday and is set to be arraigned in Washington County Superior Court on Nov. 25.

Police had gone to the home to question Taylor, who was a suspect in a theft from a local church. Authorities say Taylor acted strangely when police arrived and attempted to cut his wrists when they asked about his mother.

Allison Taylor's remains were found in a nearby trash bin.

Taylor also faces vandalism and larceny charges stemming from the incident at the church.

Taylor has no attorney listed in online court documents.
