EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 53-year-old local woman was struck and killed around 5:30 p.m. Friday as she walked on Bullocks Point Avenue between Pawtucket and Willett avenues.
Laurie Rozen, of 25 Bullocks Point Ave., was unresponsive when officers arrived and found her in the travel lane, according to police. She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The operator of the vehicle was a 39-year-old East Providence woman who had been driving north when she "suddenly" saw Rozen in the travel lane, possibly trying to cross the road, police said. The woman, who police did not identify, had two small children in the car.
Speed does not appear to be a factor. The driver is not facing charges at this time, police said.
