PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A youth basketball coach who is accused by the state police of possessing child pornography made bail while being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions, according to the state police.

Jason Elliot, 41, of Pawtucket, is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on Feb. 7, according to state police Maj. Todd. E. Catlow.

It was unclear whether Elliot would appear in District Court on Monday.

On Friday, investigators focused on Elliot when a clinical social worker became concerned about his activities, according to a news release issued Sunday by the state police.

A search of Elliot's home recovered digital media containing child pornography, the state police alleged in a news release.

Elliott is an organizer and coach with the Rhode Island Hawks AAU basketball program, which sponsors basketball teams for boys in grades 5 through 12, according to the state police.

Elliot's bail was $50,000 with surety, which means to post bail requires either 10 percent of that in cash or the full amount in property.
