PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Gas price in Rhode Island increased by a penny over the last week, according to AAA Southern New England.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.409 at self-service pumps, according to AAA's weekly survey.
A similar survey Friday by the state Department of Energy found the price at $3.39.
According to AAA, Rhode Island's average price is nine cents lower than it was a month ago, but is 19 cents higher than the national average of $3.219.
A year ago, Rhode Island drivers were paying 25 cents more per gallon, $3.659.
AAA's survey found a 50-cent range in prices, from a low of $3.219 to a high of $3.719.
