PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- There's more backlash from Rhode Island lawmakers about the early release of a man who served 13 years of a 35-year sentence for a murder a court called a barbaric "thrill kill."
Rep. Raymond Hull says he's heard from fearful constituents upset that Alfred Brissette is now living in Providence following his early release for good behavior this week.
The 39-year-old Brissette pleaded no contest to murder in the 1999 killing of Jeanette Descoteaux. Authorities say Brissette and another man picked Descoteaux at random, lured her into the woods and beat her to death.
Hull, a Providence Democrat, says he's frustrated that police won't say where in Providence Brissette is living. He is considering whether to introduce legislation to require authorities to notify residents if a paroled murderer moves nearby.
