PAWTUCKET -- The Pawtucket police are searching for a 19-year-old man accused of shooting a Providence man during a fight on Weeden Street mid-morning on Tuesday.
Marcus Lopes and several other men attacked Terrance Myers, 28, after Myers accused them of stealing from a friend, said Detective Donti Rosciti. As Myers drove away from 812 Weeden St., the men gave chase, smashing his SUV's windows with rocks and a mallet, Rosciti said.
When Myers grabbed a two-by-four piece of wood, the men scattered -- except for Lopes, who shot him five times and ran, Rosciti said. Myers is being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.
The police obtained an arrest warrant for Lopes on Wednesday, charging him with assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm, and firing in a compact area.
