PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee has signed a revised request for federal disaster aid, asking President Obama to include Kent County for public assistance.
Chafee had asked for public assistance for Bristol, Newport and Washington counties, and individual assistance for Newport and Washington counties, the governor's office said in a news release Friday.
The request mentions portions of the roof blown of the Rocky Hill School gymnasium in East Greenwich, the evacuation of Conimucut and Oakland Beach neighborhoods in Warwick and 10 roads closed and one shelter opened in Coventry.
Chafee's application said the unmet needs of Kent County are beyond state and local capability without federal assistance.
