PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Providence man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison on cocaine and firearm charges.
Juan Addison, 27, must serve three years of supervised release after prison, under the sentence imposed Thursday by U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell. Addison pleaded guilty Aug. 9 to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the prosecution, Addison was carrying nearly 3.5 grams of cocaine and $1,830 when he was arrested and said a 9mm semiautomatic pistol, ammunition and items for preparing and trafficking cocaine were found at his residence.
