PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The boss of the New England crime family is scheduled for sentencing Wednesday for shaking down several strip clubs in Providence.
Mobster Anthony L. DiNunzio pleaded guilty in September to one count of racketeering conspiracy for overseeing the shakedown of several strip clubs in Providence.
DiNunzio, of East Boston, is scheduled for sentencing at 3:30 p.m. by U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith. According to the plea agreement, DiNunzio faces a minimum of 5 years, 3 months and a maximum of 7 years, 4 months in prison.
DiNunzio has admitted that he was a "member and leader" of the New England La Cosa Nostra and regularly collected cash "protection payments" from the owners and operators of the Satin Doll, Cadillac Lounge and Foxy Lady, three well-known strip clubs in Providence.
