PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- A local man with a criminal record spanning 30 years was arrested again Thursday when the Pawtucket police allegedly caught him with a stolen gun.

Willie W. Franklin, 50, known by some police officers as "Tiger," has been convicted of charges ranging from assault, stealing cars, and possessing a needle and syringe.

On Thursday afternoon, his girlfriend at 175 Sessions St. told police that Franklin was being violent and had a gun, Maj. Arthur Martins said.

Despite a no-contact order, Franklin was in the apartment -- along with a stolen .22 revolver, ammunition, and a police scanner, Martins said.

Franklin was arraigned at District Court, Providence, on Friday on weapons charges, violating a no-contact order, and domestic disorderly conduct. He was held on surety bail.
