PROVIDENCE, RI -- A 20-year-old Boston man was discharged from Rhode Island Hospital Saturday after being treated for gunshot wounds suffered in an early-morning incident near the intersection of Friendship and Richmond Streets.
According to the police report, Dwan Knight, of 70 Ames Way, Boston, was shot once in the upper left arm and once in the lower back.
Police were dispersing crowds at 2:30 a.m. Saturday when they heard four to five gunshots, followed by four to five more, in the District Court parking lot. As people ran for cover, they found Knight lying on his stomach, yelling that he had been shot.
Two witnesses were taken to the police station to be interviewed by detectives but no further information was available Sunday.
