PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A new video game designed by and for middle-school students about combating teen dating violence and bullying -- in school and cyberspace -- was unveiled Monday morning at a ceremony at Highlander Charter School.

U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island Lt. Gov. Elizabeth H. Roberts and Providence Mayor Angel Taveras spoke to more than 80 people.

Sojourner House, a nonprofit group, developed the video game, The Real Robots of Robot High, with students at Highlander and the New York-based E-Line Media, a publisher of game-based learning products.

A $1 million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded the project.

A free beta version is available to those who sign up until Dec. 31, and will be released for purchase in early 2013 at www.realrobothigh.com
