WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island's main airport says it's expecting crowds this week as Americans travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Officials at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick are encouraging passengers to allow extra time to get through airport security. The airport says it expects busiest times will be between 6 and 9 a.m. and 2 to 6 p.m.

The bump in travelers typically begins Tuesday and runs through the Monday after Thanksgiving.

AAA is predicting the fourth consecutive increase in the number of Thanksgiving travelers this year, albeit on smaller budgets. Six percent are expected to travel by air.

The travel group expects 43.6 million Americans will hit the highways and airports over the holiday, a 0.7-percent bump over last year. But whereas travelers spent on average of $544 last year, they are expected to spend $498 this year.
