EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 41-year-old Central Falls man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct Wednesday after people in a movie theater ticket line heard him talking to himself about weapons and wanting to shoot people, the police said.
Officers responded to the East Providence 10 theater on Newport Avenue at about 6 p.m., after an employee called 911.
By then, the suspect, Carl M. Butler, was watching a movie in one of the theaters. Officers removed him and also evacuated and searched the building for weapons. None were found, said Lt. Craig Fournier.
Fournier said Butler told officers his behavior may have been influenced by a violent movie that he had "just watched."
