Route 195 ramp to Veterans Memorial Parkway to close Saturday

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Route 195 ramp to Veterans Memorial Parkway is scheduled to close Saturday for road work. It's not scheduled to reopen until summertime.

Motorists are asked to take Exit 8 (Route 1A/Route 114) to Warren Avenue, Pawtucket Avenue and connecting with Veterans Memorial Parkway near Bradley Hospital.

The bridge that carries the off-ramp is being rebuilt as part of a larger project to preserve the old Washington Bridge and transform it into a linear park and bikeway.

The work does not affect the left lane on Exit 4 that leads to Route 44 (Taunton Avenue).
