PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- A dozen students taking part in a summer youth employment program are reenacting scenes from the Civil War experience of Rhode Island's 14th Regiment.

Participants in the six-week Summer Youth Employment Program will perform a historical reenactment at Roger Williams Park in Providence on Thursday afternoon. The performance is free and open to the public.

This summer's statewide youth jobs program is providing work experience and job skills training to over 1,300 youth. Participants aged 14 to 24 work about 20 hours a week and earn minimum wage.

The initiative is funded with $1 million each from the Governor's Workforce Board and the state Department of Human Services.
