PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Shotgun deer season starts Saturday, and that means anyone in the woods, especially in state management areas, must wear at least a hat and vest of daylight fluorescent orange.
For safety, people in all state management areas except archery-only areas must wear 500 square inches of blaze orange so they are visible to hunters, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said Wednesday in a news release.
Small-game hunting will continue through the entire shotgun portion
of the deer hunting season, but the use of buckshot in any gun is prohibited during deer season.
