CRANSTON, R.I. -- Continuing its five-year tradition of citing public and private leaders who have had a positive impact on the state, the Community College of Rhode Island will honor its "Changing Lives" award recipients Thursday at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet.

This year's honorees are Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, Providence Municipal Court Judge Frank Caprio and John Hazen White Jr., president of Taco Inc.

"Individuals who are chosen for these awards are passionate about making the Ocean State the best place to live and work," a spokesperson for CCRI said. "(They) are staunch supporters of education and enabling those in need to pursue their dreams."

Tickets for the celebration, which will be held at 6 p.m, are $75 and part of the night's fundraising for the college.
