PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The 18-year-old son of a Rhode Island State Police captain has been indicted in an armed robbery of a convenience store.
A statewide grand jury indicted Samuel Lemont, 18, of 1 Fairway Drive, Richmond, on Wednesday on a first-degree robbery charge. The attorney general's office announced the indictment Thursday.
Lemont is accused of holding up a Sunnybrook Farms store in East Greenwich on May 8. East Greenwich police arrested Lemont shortly afterward and seized a handgun.
Lemont is scheduled for arraignment on Dec. 14 at Kent County Superior Court.
Lemont is the son of Capt. John D. Lemont, an award-winning officer-in-charge of the state police's office of professional standards.
