PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The cable network C-SPAN will be in the capital city next week to film various literary and historic sites for its cities tour program, which has visited 19 cities since it debuted in 2011.

Mayor Angel Taveras, along with Amy Horan of Cox Communications, will kick off the week of filming with a gathering Monday at City Hall at 11 a.m.

During the week, C-Span crews will film at various literary and historic sites, and interview local authors and civic leaders.

Monday's event and the others will be aired during a Providence feature weekend Jan. 5-6 on C-Span's BookTV channel (on C-SPAN2) and on American History TV (C-SPAN3).

Cox Communications, which offers C-SPAN as a public service, is an organizer of the week's logistics.
