For this year's National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, Rhode Island will be represented by 24 ornaments created and designed by Project Open Door's artist-in-residence Christina Miles and teens in the Rhode Island School of Design program. The ornaments, clear glass balls, each have a stained glass sailboat inside.
You can watch the lighting ceremony on the Web at thenationaltree.org on Thursday, Dec. 6, starting at 4:30 p.m. Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, James Taylor, Colbie Caillat and American Idol-winner Phillip Phillips are scheduled to perform.
