PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- With the rocket attacks between Israel and Gaza fresh on their minds, an imam, a minister and a rabbi stood in the shadow of Roger Williams at Prospect Terrace Monday to denounce terrorism and to express hope that the cease-fire that has tentatively taken hold there will become a "starting point for a more permanent peace."
The Rev. Donald Anderson, of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches, Rabbi Amy Levin, president of the Board of Rabbis, and Imam Farid Ansari, of the Council for Muslim Advancement, told a news conference that the "care for every human soul" common to all three of their faith traditions "compels us" to "cry out against the fear" that has gripped Israeli and Palestinians alike.
