Michael Fitzgerald, in front, a curator/educator at the Jabez Smith House in Groton, Conn., was among the "re-enactors" who marched Monday near a section of the Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail. They started at the Jeremiah Dexter House, 957 North Main St., Providence, at the foot of Rochambeau Avenue.. The marchers were marking the 230th anniversary of a return journey by the French Expeditionary Force, whose 4,000 troops marched from Providence to Boston in December 1782 near the end of the Revolutionary War. The commemoration continues this week, with stops on the way to Boston.
