EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 22-year-old East Providence man was arrested Saturday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
Antonio DaSilva, of Waterman Avenue, is accused of hitting and seriously injuring a 51-year-old man as he crossed Taunton Avenue just after midnight Friday in the area of Six Corners, according to East Providence police.
The pedestrian sustained multiple broken bones and serious head injuries, the police said, and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
"There are no mug shots available and the victim's information is not being released at this time," said a news release.
DaSilva turned himself in to police at 12:45 p.m., the release said and the vehicle he was driving was seized as evidence.
