CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. -- State Rep. Grace Diaz, D-Providence dropped by the headquarters of mayoral candidate James A. Diossa today.

She said that she will spend about eight hours placing calls to registered voters in Spanish and English. She will be joined by Rep. Agostinho Silva, D-Central Falls.

''The city has been through a lot and I want see James succeed,'' Silva said.

Earlier in the day, Congressman David N. Cicilline stopped by for more than an hour and worked the phones for Diossa.

There were a half dozen supporters for former police chief Joseph P. Moran III today outside Central Falls High school, including lawyer Alberto A. Cardona.

Voters in Central Falls today are choosing a replacement for their former mayor, who resigned in September and pleaded guilty to a federal corruption charge.

An earlier version of this report was posted at 12:59 p.m.
