PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Some 20 police officers, including two mounted units, broke up a disturbance at Club Roots early Sunday and arrested a club manager on a weapons charge.

According to the police report, police were summoned shortly after midnight and found about 400 people outside of the club at 276 Westminster St., some throwing punches as they emerged from the club and others fighting in the street.

Police dispersed the crowd and then went inside to ask who was in charge. According to police, employees pointed to a man, who later identified himself as Mateo Mancia, 28, of 17 Grove St., Providence. Police charged Mancia with possession of prohibited weapon, a knife with a blade longer than three inches.
