NEWPORT, R.I. -- Patsy Robertson's holiday decorations certainly make her front door look inviting.

So much so that she took first place in the residential category for the Christmas in Newport Doorway Contest, which specifies that natural materials must be used.

Apparently the appeal of her door decor was not limited to human visitors.

Robertson had to replace the apples in her wreath, after squirrels finished off the originals.

"They ate them right down to the core," Robertson said.
