PROVIDENCE -- The police say that a gun stolen from a popular Cranston restaurant was traded to a Providence drug dealer nicknamed Fats.

Steven Medieros, 33, a cook at Marchetti's, swiped a .38 caliber handgun from the office on Sunday and used it to clear a debt with "Fats," said Cranston Detective Capt. Sean Carmody.

"Fats" is Erick Ogando, 26, who was dealing from 12-14 Barrows St., said Providence Detective Capt. Anthony Sauro.

Cranston and Providence police raided Ogando's apartment on Monday, finding him, the stolen gun, and drugs worth about $17,000 wholesale, according to a police report.

Medieros, of Johnston, is charged with larceny of a firearm and held on $5,000 surety bail. Ogando is held without bail on three firearms charges and five drug charges.
