BANGOR, Maine (AP) -- Autopsies on three bodies recovered following a car fire in Bangor, Maine, are under way.
The medical examiner's office in Augusta aims to determine the victims' identities as well as how they died. The process that began Tuesday could be time-consuming because of the conditions of the bodies.
Firefighters made the grisly discovery after dousing the flames early Monday in a parking lot of a business on Target Industrial Circle.
The 2001 Pontiac sedan had Rhode Island license plates. Police have been mum on the investigation other than to say that the deaths are considered suspicious.

POLICE TRYING TO FIND PERSON IN VIDEO: Bangor police sought Tuesday to identify a person seen on a surveillance video running from a burning car where three bodies were later recovered. "There is a video that exists ... and it does show someone walking or running from the scene where the fire originated," said Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards. "At this point, we'd like to know who was in the video, and we're working to identify that person." On Tuesday, the blackened car, its windows blown out and its tires flat, remained where it was discovered. It won't be moved until the autopsies are completed, and it's unclear how long that will take, Edwards said. Authorities in Rhode Island referred questions about the vehicle to Bangor police.
