PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A convicted child molester is accused of failing to register as a sex offender.
Francis Mello, 63, designated with the highest risk to re-offend, had been sought by Providence police since November because he wasn't living where he was registered, said Officer Chris Poncia.
West Warwick police had charged Mello with the same crime Nov. 7. Mello had been convicted of molesting two girls and is required to register for life.
The U.S. Marshals sex offender task force followed a tip to Silver Lake and found Mello on Dec. 12 on Clarence Street, where he was living with another sex offender, Poncia said.
Mello was charged failing to register and two bench warrants, and was ordered held without bail on Monday.
