PROVIDENCE, RI -- The state Supreme Court's disciplinary counsel has filed formal ethics charges against lawyer Keven A. McKenna which could result in his losing his license to practice.

The newly filed charges filed by Chief Disciplinary Counsel David D. Curtin allege that McKenna is "guilty of acts of professional misconduct" including using "dilatory tactics" to disrupt proceedings in the Workers' Compensation and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, engaging in the unauthorized practice of law as a limited liability corporation and failing to disclose his income to the Bankruptcy Court.

Curtin also alleges that McKenna displayed a "lack of candor" and "dishonesty" in dealing with a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee and failed to keep and turn over records to a special counsel appointed to investigate his finances.

McKenna claims the Rhode Island Supreme Court is on a witchhunt against him and has filed a federal lawsuit to try to block the board from holding a public hearing on the ethics complaint.
