DUKE ROBILLARD
Duke Robillard, the Rhode Island native and guitar maestro best known as the co-founder of the Roomful of Blues band, has joined the band of Bob Dylan for its upcoming "Neverending Tour," according to an Australian music website.
When contacted by phone Wednesday, Robillard declined to comment about his appointment to Dylan's band.
"It's not official yet," he said. "There's nothing I can say about it."
Robillard was born in Woonsocket in 1948 and in 1967 co-founded Roomful of Blues. He has recorded with many notable musicians, including Tom Waits and Bob Dylan.
On Saturday, the Duke Robillard Band plays at Chan's in downtown Woonsocket.
Calls to Bob Dylan's agent and manager were not returned, and voicemails stated they would be on vacation through the first week of January.
